ORGANISATION
CLUB STRUCTURE & CONSTITUTION
Founded
originally in 1932 (with the Ladies’ Section one year later) Syston
Bowling Club is now formally incorporated at Companies House as a
not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee (Company Registration Number
: 6495115). This means that it has no shareholders and issues no
dividends and that all Directors and Committee Members work on an
honorary, voluntary basis (but may re-claim any authorised
out-of-pocket expenses incurred.) In the event that the Club should
be wound up, any residual assets would have to be passed on to another
Club or Company having similar aims and objectives or to a Charity.
Every Member is entitled to a single vote at General Meetings of the
Club.
Within
the limits set down in the Memorandum and Articles of Association, the
Club operates two largely self-administering Sections - Men’s and
Ladies. Under the direction of the Board of the Club (which
is elected annually by the whole membership at the Annual General
Meeting), each Section elects its own Committees and sets its own
rules for admission to membership and for competitions. Each Section
maintains its own set of accounts.
In 2008, following registration as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC),
the Club became formally committed to being open to all members of the
community, irrespective of sex, age, ethnicity, creed or ability.
