Car Parking

Members are reminded that parking restrictions have been updated since the introduction of the Community Hub.

Firstly, and as before, parking in the spaces around the clubhouse are restricted at all times and are only available for those Members servicing the Clubhouse or Green. By “servicing” we mean delivering supplies or conducting work in the Clubhouse or the Green. Once the delivery or work has been completed, Members vehicles must be removed from this area. Full details relating to the use of parking are explained within the Membership Handbook. Parking by Members is not available for roll-up, coaching sessions or for attendees of social functions (line dancing, quiz afternoon, crib, games night etc.) held at any time of the year in the Clubhouse.

Those attending the adjacent Community Hub have no allocated parking spaces.

It must be remembered that the areas around the clubhouse are first and foremost a Public Footpath, not designed for motor vehicles. Spaces available around the clubhouse:

  • The 2 spaces against the wall may be converted to EV Charging points. If so, only electric vehicles being charged can use these spaces.
  • The spaces adjacent to the Community Hub are being removed (no parking) to allow access to and from the Hub. One space is likely to be set aside for and marked for disabled parking only (appropriate badge must be displayed).
  • The spaces in front of the Peace Garden are restricted to a maximum of 2 spaces leaving free access to the bench.
  • Central Park is accessible from St Peters Street and is only available for match day parking. This is subject to: –
  1. Central Park cannot be used for parking when the park is being used for the fun fair or any other similar event;
  2. The gate must be locked after use, and the padlock key must be returned to the Clubhouse;
  3. We display the Syston Bowls Club sign to evidence parking is for bowlers only and not for public parking;
  4. The club must provide a marshal for safety reasons and to direct vehicles to be parked against the Green hedge.

Newer Members are perhaps not aware of the great length of time taken over the years in negotiations with the Council to secure parking at our facility and the continuing sensitivities surrounding the issue. The Council has made it clear that flagrant breach of the agreement reached between us could lead to this privilege being withdrawn. Your full co-operation in this matter is therefore required. Do not be the one that costs the club its parking.
